We’ve been working with Sid Griffin for some years now, first on creating his website and more recently on tour posters, T-shirts, videos and some cover art for a couple of digital singles – both for Sid and for The Long Ryders.
Sid had a new record coming out on Label 51 Recordings and we were honoured to be asked to design the cover for it, what began as ‘just’ the cover eventually turned out to be the whole package design.
I must say the team at Label 51 were a great help and specifically Jon Krop who guided me through what was needed for the artwork templates and the printing.

The Chris Hathway illustration on the cover is a digital drawing of Sid recording the album and Danielle Piazza documented the recording sessions with some fantastic photos of the recording sessions in Nashville which really helped to make the package everything it is.

We went with a kind of classic look for the inside layout, harking back to classic albums from the 70’s for the gatefold, showing off a single large photo which we thought best summed up the recording. There was some discussion of which of the two favourite images should get this spot and in the end we thought why not put one in the CD and the other in the LP which turned out great.
The album is titled ‘The Journey From Grape To Raisin’ and is available via Digital, CD and as a gatefold LP.
